Bosch, Samsung and SAIC Motor In Talks to Produce Li-ion Batteries in China

Reuters reports that Robert Bosch GmbH, Samsung SDI and SAIC Motor Corp are in advanced talks to produce lithium-ion batteries in China.

In 2008, Bosch and Samsung SDI established a Korea-based joint venture—SB LiMotive Co. Ltd.—to develop, manufacture, and sell lithium-ion batteries for automotive applications. (Earlier post.)

According to the Reuters report, under the deal being discussed, Bosch and Samsung SDI could fold some of SB LiMotive’s manufacturing and development activities into a new China-based venture with SAIC.
