2011 Highlander hybrid and Prius updates

Toyota has announced updates on the 2011 Prius and Highlander hybrids.

Better fuel economy, bigger price.

Toyota announces some new hybrid prices

The 2011 Toyota Prius will see a small price increase of $250 compared to this year's model. Including a $760 destination fee the base Prius will begin at $23,810 while a loaded Prius V starts at $29,080.

The Toyota Highlander hybrid will seen an even bigger price increase, as well a number of major upgrades.

Pricing on the new Highlander hybrid has increased $2390 to $38,100. However, the new hybrid Highlander has been upgraded from a 3.3 liter V-6 to a 3.5 liter V-6. Despite the increase in engine size, the Highlander improves its fuel efficiency from 27 mpg city to 28 mpg and from 25 mpg highway to 28 mpg according to the EPA.

The new Highlander hybrid will also include an EV mode that allows drivers to drive in pure electric mode in some conditions, while a new ECON mode helps reduce throttle response during acceleration to enhance fuel efficiency.
