Photo shot in Quebec by Kang Lim
Quebec-based SGT 2000 driver Kang Lim is the winner of Truckers News’ February winter-themed photo contest with this view, shot on a frigid morning on Highway 155 southbound near La Tuque, Quebec. Kang was looking for a “picture of a truck with tire spray or mist” on a cold morning, and he captured this one of steam coming out of a passing rig’s stacks.
Lim took the picture from the passenger seat in-cab. He’s also a driver-trainer, and that morning the trainee was driving, he says. A company driver for six years, Lim says he “did not know much about truck driving when I started it,” but the freedom it gives him to pursue photography and writing is something he cherishes.
Lim receives a copy of <i>The Digital SLR Expert: Landscapes</i>. The February contest came just in time for blizzards across the Midwest and Northeast U.S. — several members posted shots of the wintry weather to Truckers News’ Flickr.com group, where the contest is hosted. To enter the March contest:
1. Join The Photographer: Truckers News Photo Group by logging in to Flickr.com, creating a personal account (if you’re not already registered) and joining the group at http://flickr.com/groups/truckersnews.
2. Post your appropriately themed, high-resolution (at least 1,500 by 900 pixels will be needed to go in the magazine) photo to the Flickr.com group pool by midnight March 31. (Alternately, you may email to Todd Dills at tdills@rrpub.com if you’re having difficulty posting.)
3. Send an email with your full name, location/mailing address and your trucking business’ profile in brief (who you drive for or whether you run on your own authority as an owner-operator, etc.) to Todd Dills at tdills@rrpub.com — include “photo contest” in the subject line and a link to the original Flickr location of your entered picture as well. You may enter up to three pictures on the theme.
