FNA. Iran-Khodro Company (IKCO) plans to reduce the fuel consumption of its products to 7.4 liters per 100km (32 mpg US) in 2011. By 2014, the company plans to reduce average fuel consumption to 6.5 L/100km (36 mpg US).

IKCO’s Director for standardization Kayvan Vaziri said that the fuel consumption of its cars had been improved by about one 1 L/100km 2010 in comparison to the previous year. In 2009, the average fuel consumption of IKCO cars was about 8.86 L/100km (26.6 mpg US), which was decreased to 7.9 L/100km (29.8 mpg US) in 2010.

Kayvan Vaziri said, “Fuel efficient engines like TU5 are being used on Peugeot 405 and Samand; IKCO has increased the production of fuel efficient cars like Peugeot 206 and 207 while these along with engineering processes and calibration have improved XU engines fuel economy by 0.5 liters.”
