The Vertiwind concept, which eliminates the laborious process of installing fixed wind turbines, could enable offshore wind farms to pop up in numerous countries across the globe.

Technip, a company that focuses on innovative solutions for the oil and gasoline industry, will tackle the task of designing the floating Vertiwind system, which includes an integrated mooring setup, an electrical connection cable and turbine integration. Technip envisions the Vertiwind system being utilized in Europe, the U.S. and by countries that line the Mediterranean Sea.

Technip’s work in the wind turbine industry can be witnessed in Hywind, Norway’s first industrial-sized floating wind turbine.
