The Fit EV will make it to the US, but not the Fit hybrid, at least for now, despit the fact that the Fit hybrid is outselling the Prius hybrid in Japan.

Wouldn’t both the EV and hybrid versions work in the US?

Too bad Honda’s latest hybrid isn’t fit for the US

In the US the Toyota Prius accounts for about half of all hybrid sales. Even in Japan the Prius has crushed yearly sale’s records.

Yet, last month the Prius wasn’t the top selling hybrid in Japan.

After 20 months of sale’s leadership, the new Honda Fit hybrid outsold the Prius in Japan in January.

So, why the change of leadership? It seems the Fit hybrid’s lower price is the key, in addition to reports that the Fit hybrid is easily the best Honda hybrid thus far. Too bad the Fit hybrid still isn’t yet planned for the US.

Would the Fit hybrid have as much success in the US? I don’t know, but why not give it a try, especially since Toyota is preparing to unload an even cheaper hybrid with the Prius C concept?
