Ioxus, Inc., a manufacturer of premium performance ultracapacitor technology for transportation, alternative energy, medical, industrial and consumer product markets (earlier post), has increased its presence in China with a new entity in Hong Kong, Ioxus Asia Limited. Wind turbine and hybrid bus markets in China are driving demand for higher capacity and greater power density ultracapacitors.

As part of the expansion, Ioxus Asia Limited will conduct direct business with local companies, as well as support regional distributors including Secotec Ltd, Sinotek, Beijing Favor, GT Advanced Energy Technology Shanghai Ltd. and Asiacom Technology. To meet the rapidly growing regional need for ultracapacitors, Ioxus is establishing a partnership with a local facility to manufacture, assemble and test modules and deliver them to Chinese customers more quickly. Ioxus’ expansion in China also includes a localized website, which will launch by the end of March.

Ioxus’ growing footprint in China builds upon the success of its Asia Pacific distributor network, announced in late 2010. (Earlier post.) The network, which delivers technical and marketing support to local partners, was formed in direct response to expanding interest in ultracapacitors and hybrid capacitors in the region.

The level of innovation and technological advancement taking place in China is evident in the swift adoption of optimized, cost-effective energy storage solutions. Chinese manufacturers see ultracapacitors as a critical factor in their pursuit of more efficient applications.
