Drivers who frequently use cell phones behind the wheel have more near-misses or crashes than other drivers, according to new research, but near-crash or crash rates of individual drivers don’t increase the more they use their phones. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and Virginia Tech Transportation Institute released two new studies examining the impact of driver cell phone use.
