The Class 4 truck market now dominated by low-cab forward trucks used primarily for urban delivery and landscaping jobs should grow 3 percent in 2014 and reach about 12,000 new vehicles registered for commercial use, ACT Research told Work Truck magazine. If the forecast holds from Steve Tam, ACT’s vice president of the commercial vehicle sector, the Class 4 market would record its second year of growth following a post-recession-plagued 2012 where only 9,500 units were registered and the class reached its lowest point since the high-water mark of 2007 when 51,000 Class 4 units entered commercial service.
