A tractor-trailer operated by Michael L. Green was eastbound on U.S. Highway 158, also known as Oxford Loop Road, shortly after 10:30 a.m. when it ran a red light at N.C. Highway 96 and hit a southbound vehicle, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. After colliding with the car, the tractor-trailer struck a second passenger vehicle, which was traveling north on N.C. 96, authorities said.
