A bipartisan bill to extend the authorization for federal highway and transit programs through December 4 was introduced in the House today, Nov. 16. The announcement of the short-term patch comes with less than five days left for Congress to complete the conferencing process and pass a long-term highway bill before the current funding extension expires on Nov. 20 The Surface Transportation Extension Act of 2015, Part II was introduced by Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster , T&I Ranking Member Peter DeFazio , Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady and Ways & Means Ranking Member Sander Levin .
