Trucking companies in both the less-than-truckload and truckload sectors reported lower second quarter profits on Thursday morning due in part to the sluggish economy during the period as well as downward pressure on freight rates. Less-than-truckload carrier Old Dominion Freight line announced its earnings fell while also reporting its first year-over-year decline in revenue since 2009.
