A. Yes, drivers will be able to present their logs from the seven days (Dec. 11-17, 2017) previous to the ELD implementation in any way they prepared their logs before December 18 (the date of the ELD implementation).
Drivers will be allowed to present their logs in any of the following ways for the period covering Dec. 11-17, 2017:
- Paper records
- A printout from an electronic logging device
- A display from a device installed with logging software and electronic signature capabilities
- Having the records available by entering them into an ELD
- Continued use of a grandfathered automatic on-board recording device (AOBRD).
From December 18, 2017, drivers covered under the ELD Mandate will be required to present all of their records of duty status (RODS) either with an ELD or a grandfathered compliant AOBRD.
