Nikkei. W-Scope will triple the output of lithium-ion battery separator films to keep up with demand tied to electric vehicles.
The company is currently adding a second production line at a South Korean factory in the town of Ochang. This addition, which is scheduled to begin mass production this month, will lift the company’s battery separator film output to 60 million sq. meters a month.
This will help the world’s No. 5 battery separator film maker narrow the gap with higher-positioned rivals, such as Asahi Kasei Corp. and the Toray Industries Inc. group.
