Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) will unveil its SKYACTIV technologies (earlier post) at the upcoming New York International Auto Show, alongside the North American debut of its MINAGI Concept and the United States debut of its refreshed 2012 Mazda3.

SKYACTIV is a suite of technologies, including completely redesigned, efficient internal combustion gasoline and diesel engines, manual and automatic transmissions, and an advanced body and chassis.

The first application of Mazda’s new, high-efficiency SKYACTIV-G gasoline engine combined with SKYACTIV transmissions will debut in the 2012 Mazda3 later this fall. Nearly one of every three Mazdas sold worldwide is a Mazda3, which, refreshed for 2012, receives the SKYACTIV powertrain as well as a refined interior and exterior design and new safety features.

The MINAGI Concept is a compact SUV, and the first Mazda concept vehicle to fully adopt its new SKYACTIV suite of technologies and its new KODO (“Soul of Motion”) design theme, which was initially seen in the SHINARI Concept that debuted last year. MINAGI provides direction for the brand’s next generation of vehicles, and is the inspiration for an upcoming production model.
