RAHWAY – After a tanker truck slammed into a line of parked cars on April 14, the truck driver claimed the crash occurred because he had tried to avoid an oncoming vehicle. Perry Shawki, 56, of North Plainfield, was driving a tanker truck east on West Inman Avenue near Madison Avenue about 5:45 a.m. when he struck a parked 2014 Toyota Rav 4, then hit a Crown Victoria , which went up on the sidewalk and across two driveways, sticking two other vehicles.
