Families who have had loved ones killed in large truck crashes Wednesday joined law enforcement, labor and safety groups to urge Congress to put public safety before corporate profits. Despite alarming increases in truck crash deaths and injuries since 2009, some members of Congress are pushing a legislative overhaul of lifesaving truck safety laws and rules in the FY2016 Transportation, House and Urban Development appropriations bill at the request of influential industry executives, organizers said.
