Conditions for the U.S. housing market, a key source of freight for many trucking sectors, look better than they have in years, according to two reports released late last week. New home starts in June jumped 9.8% from the previous month, hitting an adjusted annual rate of 1.174 million, while May’s figure was revised slightly higher, according to the U.S. Commerce Department.
