A wildcat job action Friday morning by longshoremen at Port Newark/Port Elizabeth terminals due to an internal labor dispute led to a shutdown of trucking transportation into and out of the massive facilities for several hours, Port Authority officials said. The unsanctioned job action by members of the International Longshoremen’s Association, the union that represents longshoremen, began at 10:14 a.m. and caused an estimated 1,000 truckers from throughout the region to be barred from entering – or leaving – various New Jersey port facilities through the early afternoon and sparked a response by more than four dozen PAPD cops.
