A truck driver is dead and a woman motorist has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and without a license, the California Highway Patrol reported. The big rig and a 2004 Hyundai were both traveling southbound in different lanes on Interstate 5 north of Lathrop Road about 12:20 a.m. Monday when they collided while merging for a construction zone.
