A. Drivers operating in the U.S., who are subject to the ELD rule, must record all of his or her time operating in the U.S. on an ELD, and must have evidence of the hours worked for the current 24-hour period and the previous 7 days.
If during the 8-day period, the driver was also operating in Canada or Mexico, he or she may record his or her time operating in those countries by using one of the following methods:
- Records of duty status (RODS) on paper for the current day and the seven days prior operating in Canada or Mexico
- An AOBRD that displays or can print out the driver’s RODS
- An ELD data transfer that displays the driver’s RODS for any operations both inside and outside the U.S.
