Economic Watch: Expect Increase In Retail Imports

Import cargo volume at the nation’s major retail container ports should see a small but significant increase this month as merchants stock up for the back-to-school season, then see a larger wave in late summer and fall for the holiday shopping season, according to the monthly Global Port Tracker report released July 12 by the National Retail Federation and the consulting firm Hackett Associates. Ports covered by Global Port Tracker handled 1.63 million 20-foot equivalent units in May, the latest month for which after-the-fact numbers are available.

Okla. Reaches CNG Fueling Milestone

Oklahoma has reached a milestone of having at least one compressed natural gas station every 100 miles along its interstates in a private-public partnership that began in 2011, according to an announcement from NGVAmerica. Gov. Mary Fallin, who initially set the goal, recently joined CNG retailers OnCue Express, Love’s Travel Stops, Sparq Natural Gas, Oklahoma Natural Gas and Tulsa Gas Technologies with other CNG proponents to celebrate the achievement at the OnCue Express CNG station in Billings, Okla.

XL Hybrids Vans Granted Voucher Eligibility in Calif.
